Thursday! Managing SBS 2008: Group Policy

A reminder to everyone that our monthly Managing SBS 2008 webinar is this Thursday. Mark your calendar because they’ll be every Third Thursday until we’re all experts at managing SBS 2008. :) Please use the links below to register and attend.

This month we’re going to discuss Group Policy and Group Policy Preferences. In this session we’ll discuss what’s in the default policies, how to push out the client-side extensions and how to use Group Policy Preferences to eliminate Logon scripts. Susan Bradley will be staffing the Q&A log for us again and we’ll have special guest Chad Gross demonstrating the script he’s developed to help us deploy the client-side extensions. Managing SBS 2008, Part 3: Group Policy

In part 3 of our Managing SBS 2008 series Eriq and Amy will present Group Policy and Group Policy Preferences. During this presentation we will explain what important things the default group policies are doing for your network. Then we will demonstrate how to use Group Policy Preferences to replace your login scripts along with the methods to get the GPP client-side extensions update installed on all workstations. It’s going to be busy hour!

MVP Awards

Third Tier is pleased to announce that Amy and Eriq were both re-awarded MVP status on January 1st. This is the fourth year in a row that both Amy and Eriq have received this recognition from Microsoft. Eriq was recognized for his work with Small Business Server, while Amy, who had been awarded MVP status for her work with ISA the past three years, is one of two MVPs worldwide who have been recognized for the Essential Business Server category.

Happy New Year!

Eriq and I just want to say Thank You for your support, feedback, webinar attendance and of course business. You have helped us launch Third Tier and we appreciate every conversation that we’ve had with you.

In 2009, we going to be making a few tweaks and of course implementing some ambitious plans!

  • Website refresh
  • Add consultants with additional areas of specialty
  • Add a second webinar series
  • Expand support offering to clients in non-US time zones
  • Advertise

Of course we’re also planning to continue these efforts:

  • Grow Third Tier LinkedIn group
  • Provide technical presentations to user groups
  • Continue the SBS 2008: Tips & Tricks webinar series

We’re very appreciative of the feedback we have received from our customers and well wishers. I hope that we will continue to hear from you. Our goal is to provide services that will help you support your clients, your IT department, your business.
