Hi, I just want to make sure the above will resolve my issue.
I lost a Server 2003 domain and had to reinstall from scratch and recreate users, shares and I added manually the computer names to the AD
Obviously I am getting Event id 5513 on the server because the SID on my XP systems is not recognized. I've tried right-clicking the computer in AD and selecting the Reset option but not working.
Now unjoining and rejoining the computers does work but I loose the profile and it is time consuming.

Will suggestion #3 above work for me?

Thanks

Hi there, nice tip!
But what exactly do you mean with "re-join without un-joining the computer to the domain" This doesn't realy makes sense to me. Once a computer is part of a domain, you can only leave the domain by joining a workgroup or am i wrong here? I might be able to directly re-join the domain from the temporay workgoup without a reboot in betweene.... is that what we are talking about here?

kind regards,

[...] I found this really useful post on how to reduce the size of the sbsmonitoring sql db on sbs2008. Our file was around 3.5gb, along with a 3gb log file I downloaded a .sql script to update the logging to 30 days. I used this post, but thought i’d copy it to this blog incase the other disapears. souce : SBS 2008 Monitoring Database Fills to Capacity [...]

I just came across this issue while doing a Swing migration. I found that leaving the USB drive unplugged during the initial boot, then inserting it at the "Install Now" window solved the problem. Migration is going ahead smoothly right now...

PS love this site - lots of good articles. I'll definitely call you if I ever need tier 3 support.

So then is a UC certificate (as opposed to plain SSL certificates) necessary if we're using SRV record for the autodiscover service?
