How to Talk about security awareness training:
- Let’s review the security awareness training that we are providing.
- We’re not getting enough of your staff to take it.
- We can do everything on our end but the criminals are in the business of always figuring out how to get around it and steal your money.
- We want everyone to take the training seriously.
- I have some ideas for how to improve things.
- Can we have you reiterate it’s importance?
- Can someone be appointed the security training champion?
- We can share reports with them on who has taken the training and who hasn’t so they can follow up and encourage them to do so.
At your next meeting, say to your client: “We need your help to make this training really effective. Can you reiterate its importance to your staff and appoint a security training champion? We’ll provide that person with reports showing who has and hasn’t completed the training so they can follow up and encourage people to finish it.”
This one step turns security awareness training from a checkbox into a shared responsibility between you as the MSP and your client’s leadership team
